Winter Wonderland Weddings

So you're planning a Winter Destination Wedding? The following tips will help you with creative wedding themes and locations. According to The Knot.com Snowflakes and pinecones are tried-and-true winter wedding motifs, but don't feel bound to these seasonal standbys

Wedding Colors - Try these festive color combinations below for a Winter Wedding.

Indoor Winter Wonderland Decor

  • Aqua Blue/Black - Great color scheme for a formal Black Tie Wedding
  • Ivory/Chocolate Brown/Gold - Warm, Rich and Chic
  • Ice Blue/Silver - Represents a crisp, sparkling winter day
  • Decadent Red/Shimmer Gold - Very festive and reflects the season
Winter Wedding Decor - Try to keep it simple, remember that less is always more. Dare to be different!

If your wedding color scheme is the festive Decadent Red and Shimmering Gold, create an aisle runner out of gold, ivory and red rose petals.
  • Try a velvet aisle runner trimmed with satin ribbon.
  • Give the altar a little festive glam with crystal accent decor.
  • Decorate the pews with tall white branches and a silk ribbon tied around them. Skip every two-three pews.
Winter Wedding Locations - I selected three very cold but picturesque destinations to consider for a Destination Winter Wedding.

Ice Hotel - Hotel de Glace in Quebec Canada
  • Aspen Colorado - Sky Hotel http://www.kimptonhotels.com/

Weddings Like No Other at Sky Hotel in Aspen

Sky Hotel showcases Aspen Mountain views along with exceptional services and amenities to make your wedding the peak experience it should be. Stylish accommodations, expert catering and more await you and your guests at our boutique Kimpton Hotel in the heart of Aspen, Colorado. Sky Hotel is the perfect Aspen wedding hotel for both indoor and outdoor events. They attend to every detail of your rehearsal dinner, reception, post-wedding brunch or any of the other wedding parties you need to celebrate your special day.
Quebec Weddings are perfect for couples looking for something charming and a little different. Couples who want something truly unique can have an Ice Hotel wedding, while those who love the cosmopolitan vibe of Montreal can get married at one of its many venues. Want to add some adventure to your nuptials? Have an ice hotel wedding at the Ice Hotel Quebec-Canada. This hotel, which is made entirely from ice, offers adventurous brides and grooms a chance to say “I do” within its elaborate ice and snow structure.

Resort to Romance Say “I do” at Alyeska Resort. Guests will enjoy the luxurious Hotel Alyeska, 40 miles from Anchorage, with its 304 well-appointed guest rooms, on-site dining and shops and extensive outdoors activities. The Spa at Alyeska can accommodate private events.

Wheathering your Winter Destination Wedding - How to deal with the elements

  • Just because you're getting married in the winter doesn't mean that you can't take out door pictures.  To eliminate the shivers for pictures, purchase a nice shawl or winter evening coat to go with your gown.
  • Long evening gloves would be great if your gown is sleeveless, close-toed style shoe and maybe a hand muff to keep your hands warm.  Don't forget to throw a pair of snow boots in the limo,  just in case snow is in the forecast you can put them on to keep your feet warm then change into your beautiful wedding shoes inside the venue.
  • These tips apply to the groom as well. He can wear a formal coat to coordinate with his attire, a pair of leather gloves and nice scarf that matches your wedding color scheme.
  • If inclimate weather is forecasted for your wedding, consider having the ceremony and reception at the same place.  This would save your guest the trouble of having to travel in bad weather.
  • Valet parking would be a plus at the venue.  If it is snowing you don't want your guest to have to walk far from their cars.
